Research Interests
We work in the area of multinuclear clusters based on lanthanides and heavier main group based metal ions. Study of structure and property of molecular clusters are important considering the fact that they represent a class of compound which acts as a link between molecules and materials. Our interests can be broadly in to two fields, firstly we are interested in synthesizing and structurally characterizing lanthanide based clusters with the aim of assembling novel single molecule magnets with improved properties. Our other research activity is in synthesizing heavier main group based oxo clusters / polyoxometallates and macrocycles and to employ them as proligands / cryptands for coordination to transition metal ions and lanthanides.
