Research Interests
Periasamy's research group developed several new organic synthetic methods using boron and transition metal reagents. His research group also developed several new routes to organometallics and chiral reagents using simple bench-top chemicals for synthetic applications. A company manufactures certain chiral reagents for Indian consumption and export, following the methods developed by Periasamy’s students in Hyderabad. Periasamy's group current efforts are on the development of electron transfer reactions for applications in simple "electricity harvesting cells" that can be used to train youth (<12th class) to help them in setting up small scale units or to make them employable in such units so as to create new gainful employment opportunities in a massive scale in our country and other countries.
