Prabagar was born in Mangalam village, Thiruvannamalai (Dt), Tamil Nadu, India in 1987. He attended primary and high school studies at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Mangalam. Then he received his B.Sc degree in Chemistry from Govt. Arts and Science College, Thiruvannamalai under the Thiruvalluvar University in 2008 and obtained his M.Sc. with Organic Chemistry specialization from the University of Madras, Chennai in 2010. After working at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory as project fellow he qualified the CSIR-JRF Examination in 2012. Then he started his doctoral research in 2013 at the university of hyderabad under the guidance of Prof. Akhila Kumar Sahoo, where he worked on the Regiodivergent Cyclization and Cycloisomerization of Yne-Ynamides and received Ph.D in October 2018.
